7 Self Care Sunday Rituals Featuring Some of My Favorite Things
I’m grateful that more and more people are talking about the importance of self care. It’s an essential part of nurturing mental health and I’m almost certain (don’t quote me!) it can add years to one’s life. 🙂 I find Sundays to be the perfect day of the week to treat myself to some delicious TLC because the day’s pace is naturally slower so I can take my time, and it’s a great way to ease into the week ahead (quell the Sunday scaries!).
7 Self Care Sunday Rituals
- Stretch. When I first wake up, I like to do some simple yoga stretches in bed (apasana and supine pigeon are my go tos). While I get my stretch on, I like to set an intention for the day, something to focus my thoughts on. Today’s intention/mantra was “I’m going to lead with my heart and be love.”
- Dress up (or down). Then I like to dress in a way that best suits my mood, whether it be it cozy, comfy, sexy, cute, etc. It could be a flirty dress with gold bar stud earrings or broken-in sweats, as long as it feels good on my skin, it’s a treat. Regardless of what I’m wearing, often bold lips and winged liner are part of the whole shebang. They make me feel me.Â
- Enjoy tea time. I think I may have been born in the wrong country, haha. I drink tea all day every day like a Brit. 🙂 Sipping on tea is somewhat meditative and definitely calming. I love me some matcha, earl grey, or any variety of Buddha Teas. Their chakra ones are some of my faves.
- Squeeze in a workout. Barre and hot yoga have been my jam this past year. Sweating it out to good music + the release of endorphins have been essential to my mental wellbeing. I feel much more grounded and clear headed after a hearty workout. Btw, outfit in pic is from Ellie Activewear.
- Nom wholesome, yummy food. Sure, I crave pizza and junk food from time to time, but my fave feel-good meal is a colorful whole bowl with grains, veggies, and a delicious sauce or fruity oatmeal. Lately I’ve been diggin’ the Harvest Bowls and Oatmeal Cups from Daily Harvest, a vegan food delivery service that has a variety of prepped meals. I love that they’re simple, affordable, easy, and convenient. Sometimes on self care days, I’m too lazy to full-on cook, so these totally come in handy. Btw, you can use code veganbeauty for $ off your first order if you wanna try them out, too.
- Take a relaxing bath. Since I pretty much exclusively take baths anyway, on self care days, I like to get fancy with bubbles, bath salts, and bath bombs. Yes, all three at the same time. Life is too short. Be extra with yo’ baths! And sure, I’ll scrub and get clean, but for the majority of the time, I just soak, get pruney, and listen to my favorite tunes. It’s. The. Best.
- Dry brush and massage my bod. I’ve incorporated a lot of Ayurvedic rituals into my beauty routine, especially post-bath including dry brushing (pretty much what it sounds like, I dry brush my entire body in the direction of the heart) and Abhyanga, a self massage with warm coconut or sesame oil. Omg, so divine! I highly recommend trying both of these!
What are some of your favorite ways to self care it up? xx
